Rishikesh works as an adventure destination for most of the year, but the experience changes a lot with the season. Here is when to come depending on what you want.
September to November — the best all-round window
Post-monsoon is peak season for a reason. The river settles into strong, clean flows, the air is crisp, the valley is green and gorge visibility is excellent for jump photos. Book early — this is also the busiest stretch of the year.
February to April — warm days, big water
Spring brings comfortable temperatures and reliable rafting conditions. Great for combining rafting and bungee in a single day without cooking on the platform.
December to January — cold but clear
Quiet, beautiful and very cold on the water. Rafting still runs, but bring layers and expect the river to be genuinely icy. Bungee jumping is unaffected by cold and the winter light is superb.
May to June — hot, and go early
Summer heat pushes everything to early morning slots. The river is a relief, but midday on the cliff platform is hard work. Book the first slots of the day.
July to mid-September — monsoon
Commercial rafting on the Ganga is typically suspended during peak monsoon for safety, and heavy weather can cause holds on jump operations. If you are travelling in this window, message us before booking travel so we can tell you what is running.
